Although Wisconsin has yet to see any snow this season, the ski and snowboard club is eager to hit the slopes and is preparing for its annual winter break trip to Colorado.

Just after the new year, the club will make its annual trip to Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Col. where the group looks to enjoy terrain that can't be matched anywhere in the Midwest.

Club President Matthew Ingram believes the Winter Park trip is a once in a lifetime experience.

"We have one of the best trips when we go to Winter Park." Ingram said. "It is a price of $575 which includes skiing or snowboarding as well as lodging for five days, and this trip would usually cost an individual double or triple that price."

Ingram said one of the benefits of going on the trip is meeting new people and making more friends.

"Not only do we have one of the best trips around, but this is a great way to make friends from not only the university, but also different universities or states," Ingram said.

While the club doesn't participate in any races or competitions it has drawn people who are interested in going to Colorado for several years.

"This year's club has 25 members for the trip, which is down from year's past but still strong," club Vice President Cody Pierson said. "We are going with UW-Stevens Point on the trip."

If they have enough members, the club might take different trips as well.

"We might be able to go to different hills in Wisconsin like Cascade if there are enough members, and we hope there are," Pierson said.

Most of the people on the trip have been skiing or snowboarding since they were kids.

"We got into skiing or snowboarding with time," Pierson said. "I got into it in middle school, but there are some members who have been skiing or snowboarding a lot longer."
