UW-Whitewater will hold its annual Faculty/Academic Staff Recognition and Retirement Dinner Thursday in the Old Main Ballroom at the University Center.
The university is honoring 13 faculty members for their years of service with the school.
Professor and honoree Vay Rodman said he is humbled by the ceremony and the time is right for him to end his career after 25 years at UW-Whitewater.
"My kids are all graduating college now, I think I'm at the age where I want to start enjoying some of my hobbies," he said. "I have really enjoyed my time here."
The honorees retiring this year all have at least 20 years of service. Associate professor Anthony Truog retires from teaching having the most service with 41 years of experience.
Chancellor Telfer said the dinner is a nice way to show appreciation for faculty member's years of service.
"These [ceremonies] have been happening for years now, we say a few things about the honorees and hand out various awards," he said. "It's a good send off."
In addition to the program and dinner, other university-wide awards will be given out to faculty members.
