Although St. Patrick's Day is a holiday most commonly equated with beer, not everyone is able to go out to the bars at six in the morning. It is, after all, on a Tuesday. Some ambitious students might go to class. Others might not have the right type of green to spend on drinks. Believe it or not, there are some fun things to do to celebrate St. Patty's Day that you might actually remember.

For starters, you can celebrate by eating traditional Irish food. Start off with an Irish breakfast - oatmeal, toast, bacon, sausage and eggs. Don't forget the honey and jam, and be sure to make a pot of tea. If you're a good cook, try making corned beef and cabbage or an Irish stew for dinner. If not, you can go out for an Irish dessert like cheesecake or one of many Irish pies. Even a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's will do if you're broke.

After you're filled with Irish food, rent a couple of movies that take place in Ireland. The heartwarming chick-flick "P.S. I Love You" takes you to Ireland's beautiful countryside. The John Wayne classic "The Quiet Man" was also filmed in Ireland. "Michael Collins" not only was filmed in Dublin, but is also about the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War. You can appreciate Ireland's wonder and beauty from the comfort of your couch.

A green party is also a great way to celebrate. Invite your friends over and tell them to bring something green. Make sure that you decorate with green party favors. Cut out shamrocks, blow up balloons and string green Christmas lights across the ceiling. Make a plate of green snacks - green cookies, green M&M's, and chips and guacamole. Play traditional Irish folk songs to get in the holiday spirit. Be sure to wear your finest green clothes. This is the only day of the year you can wear all green and not be called the Jolly Green Giant. You and your friends will feel as Irish as ever at your green party.

St. Patrick's Day doesn't have to be all about green beer. You can celebrate Irish culture and traditions without drinking a drop. Cook up some corned beef, rent some movies, throw a party and be Irish for a day.
