A show where talents are center stage, passions are brought to life, and students watch fellow students give it their all at whatever ability they posses. At Whitewater's Got Talent, students will experience such a show.
Formally known for the past three years as Whitewater Idol, the annual event sponsored by the Residence Hall Association, was renamed this year to Whitewater's Got Talent.
"We changed it this year to open the door to a variety of talents," said sophomore co-programmer, Angela Wicklund.
Last year there were basically just singers; so this year the name was changed in hopes to open the door for other talents, Wicklund said. Last year's attendance was 300 students, she said.
"We're hoping for a bigger turn out and a greater variety of talents," said sophomore co-programmer Ashley Palubicki.
Whitewater's Got Talent will show December 4 at the Hamilton Center, located in the University Center.
Talents revolved around singing, at Jitters for auditions Thursday night. Some will chose to sing, others will both sing and play an instrument.
Freshmen through juniors are interested in performing for Whitewater's Got Talent.
Freshman Gustavo Chaviano is planning to sing for the show. He has a passion for singing and has been for six years.
Chaviano is an active member in the Chamber Singers and performed last Sunday at the Young Auditorium in the Center of the Arts. Along with being a member with the Chamber Singers, he is involved with the local jazz ensemble as well.
Chaviano is majoring in music and has a goal of becoming a music teacher.
"I want to help people develop talent since people helped develop mine," said Chaviano.
Freshman Peter Benson, plans to sing and play the piano in the talent show. Performing in talent shows throughout high school is something Benson took advantage of. Now in college Benson has opportunity to do the same at Whitewater's Got Talent.
