Two sexual assaults that reportedly occured on campus in September were both recanted by the alleged victims, according to University Police Chief Matt Kiederlen.
On Sept. 24, a female UW-Whitewater student reported to University Police that she had been sexually assaulted near the Williams Center.
A campus-wide e-mail sent out by Kiederlen, said the alleged assault took place in Lot 11 near the Williams Center at approximately 3:15 p.m. The attacker was described as being male, 24-26 years old, six feet tall, weighing 240 pounds with a muscular upper body and olive skin.
A similar sexual assault incident was reported in the same parking lot on Sept. 4, involving a female student being attacked by three males.
University Police will not press charges of filing a false report in either of these situations. The Royal Purple will have more information as it becomes available

So, what is stopping the police and the UWW campus staff from putting cameras on the parking lots and surrounding areas? Wouldn't this help with ID-ing who did such acts? What is stopping them from doing such?

Cameras would be expensive to install and monitor the vast open areas. And cameras aren't that powerful to identify anyone in the dark.

Cameras still are essential. Obviously not all sexual assaults happen at night. Look at the latest attack, 3:15 pm is not at night. So perhaps the attacker would have been identified. (Continued…)

Cameras still would prove essential. Not all sexual assaults happen and night. Look at the most recent attack. This attack happened at 3:15 pm, this was in daylight so a camera would have been able to identify the attacker. (Continued…)

The WW cops are dropping the ball here. The two "victims" should be charged with something and forced to pay back all of the money that they cost the Police Department. (Continued…)

As a UWW Alum, and someone who has been questioned about incidents that I have had nothing to do with where people have knowingly lied on police reports. (Continued…)

We do have to congratulate the Whitewater PD on the job they performed. They did what they were asked to do and protect the campus from the assailants which were very real at the time. (Continued…)
