Bicycles cheaper, more economical than gas-powered scooters
Letter to the editor

Sure, I scootered unforgettably through the lush south of France.
But back home here, our friend the bicycle wins the day.
It's economical. It's reliable. It's surely and easily healthy (also "green" if you care). It parks anywhere, stores well-and can be carried by a car. It's license- and insurance-free. It can carry hefty luggage (with baskets). It's almost all-weather (with fat tires and poncho). It can be safe-wear day-glo helmet, stay alert. Thus, bicycling has "style" in the sense of deft "attainment and restraint"restraint"-it "fits the scene." Vive le velo-long live the bicycle!
