Letter: Envious democrats hurl empty insults, rhetoric at Palin
Issue date: 10/8/08 Section: Opinion
On behalf of the UWW College Republicans. Ryan Nachreiner and Brandon VerVelde contributed to this letter. In response to "Superficiality Dictates Republican VP Pick" by John Hauck.
While John Hauck and the rest of the left are attempting to attack Sarah Palin on her experience, this isn't truly the source of their frustration. How can it be? Why would any on the left want to even whisper the word "experience?" Palin is not only more experienced than Obama and held more elected positions, but she also has a portfolio of executive experience, of which Obama literally has none.
But comparing experience really isn't their intention. Hauck's reaction to the nomination of Sarah Palin is typical of the left. John McCain has brilliantly beaten the Democrats at their own game, and they can't take it. For years Democrats have relied on class envy and identity politics, and all of a sudden a conservative candidate shares the identities of so many voters the left has made a living out of manipulating. Democrats are becoming frustrated and confused. Their faces are turning red, steam comes out of their ears and they finally have burst out with, "She's incompetent!"
Between now and November everyone with more maturity than an eight year old will recognize the Democrats are trudging down the path of jealous, spiteful losers. The attacks have started and will surely continue. They'll try to make Palin seem inexperienced or unintelligent or dig up what they think is dirt but is actually a real-life American family in real-life situations.
An example of these outrageous attacks that the left is flinging at Palin is one Heather Mallick. In her article, entitled "A Mighty Wind Blows Through Republican Convention," Mallick says, among other despicable things, that Sarah Palin looks like a "porn actress" and has "sewn up the white trash vote." But Mallick didn't stop with just attacking Gov. Palin, she attacked her husband, and most of their children, even calling Bristol a "pramface." Don't know what that means? Look it up, it's British or Canadian slang for something that I won't write here.
These superficial, no-substance attacks from the left are not going to stop, and it's because they know that she is experienced and intelligent, and relates with voters. The left is just praying and hoping that the American people don't find out what they know. But attacking her will only confirm that all this time they've been claiming to be the party of diversity, it's the Republicans that truly support strong women.
While John Hauck said the GOP abandoned substance and replaced it with style, I urge the people who read this to think critically. Who has really abandoned substance here? Hint: It's not the GOP.

Really?
The Whitewater College of Republicans contribute this story and this is the best they can come up with? It seems people voting for McCain can't even reasonably justify their choices anymore. (Continued…)
