The UW Credit Union has a new mobile banking service that is targeted at on-the-move students. More than 4,000 members statewide have taken advantage of the new cellular banking tool.

"Any member that is currently signed up with Web Branch [the UW Credit Union internet banking system] can use mobile banking with UW Credit Union," Director of Internet Services Eric Bangerter said.

Bangerter said the mobile banking service is basically a stripped down version of Web Branch. The mobile version is meant to allow use of services that people on the move may need.

Making loan payments, transferring money, checking account history, and Money Link are a few of the options available. Money Link is especially targeted at college students that may need to transfer money to their friends or receive money from parents quickly.

"Money Link was designed with students in mind," Bangerter said. "It is a way for any UW Credit Union member to send money to another instantly."

Using Money Link, members can send money to any fellow member instantly using their mobile phone. Non-members can transfer money from any bank account in about four business days.

The system uses the same security encryption as Web Branch, allowing secure transactions by cellular phone. The service is available with any phone that has a Web browser and internet service.

To access mobile banking by cellular phone go to m.uwcu.org.
