Municipal judge election places Richard Kelley as the winner

The results are in for the spring elections in Whitewater.
The race for Whitewater municipal judge showed a large disparity between currently appointed judge Richard Kelley, 814 votes, and Arthur Coleman, 261 votes.
The districts consisting of the most UW-Whitewater students, Aldermanic Districts 2 and 4 combined to favor Kelley 363-106 votes according to unofficial city results. The only district Coleman did win was District 2, 18-14.
The race for the State Supreme Court seat ended in a close finish as Judge Mike Gableman edged out appointed incumbent Justice Louis Butler 411,472-391,549 according to unofficial state results.
In Walworth County, Gableman defeated Butler by nearly 2,500 votes. The city of Whitewater voted in favor of Butler 638-470.
The April 1, ballot included a referendum asking if the Wisconsin constitution should be amended to prohibit the Governor from using his partial veto power to change the meaning of a bill. The City of Whitewater voted a resounding 'yes' to ban the veto power 812-332 votes.
The state totals came out to 561,369-234,485 in favor of prohibiting the governor's powers.
The race for Walworth County supervisor for district 4 was close as Jerry Grant beat out Jim Stewart 389-340. The same race for District 3 between Ann Lohrmann and Frederick Bromley ended with Bromley winning with 826-687 votes over Lohrmann.
Running unopposed were, Max Taylor, AD 2, Lynn Binnie, AD 4, Jim Stewart, Council Member at Large, Caroline Weiman, Steve Lamsam and Kurt Harkness all for school board seats.
An unofficial total of 1,212 ballots were cast Monday in Whitewater and 51 came from the Hamilton Center.
