The Warhawks improved its overall dual meet record to 4-1, after posting a 145-55.5 victory over the Beloit College Buccaneers and a convincing 159-39 win over the Coe College Kohawks. The 'Hawks won 11 of the 13 events, with only the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley events going to the Buccaneers' Patrick Duvall.
"I am very pleased with the meet, as many of our guys had their best times of the season," Rollings said. "Our depth was on display at this meet, but we still have to keep pushing hard as we enter the second half of the season."
There were many individuals who contributed to the victories, but Boers outshined everyone else, qualifying for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III swimming and diving championships at the meet.
Boers became eligible for nationals after he notched 292.6 points in the one-meter dive. The fifth year senior from Madison East also broke his own 3-meter diving record, scoring 269.75 points.
"The records mean a lot to me, but I am just happy to qualify for nationals," Boers said. "I still believe I can improve my scores with some minor adjustments over the training trip in a couple of weeks."
Even though Boers scored big, other 'Hawks contributed to the dual victories. Juniors Mike Huffman and A.J. Fuller, and freshmen Nate Glover, Andy Hanney and Matt Mintz all claimed individual first-place finishes.
Huffman paced the team with his individual victories in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events and ended his day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
"So far this has been a great season for me personally, but I am more concerned about helping my team in any way," Huffman said. "I've trained really hard to get to where I am at today, but I have to work on the small things, such as my starts and turns in order to make more strides."
The 'Hawks compete on Jan. 12 against Lawrence University at 1 p.m. in the Williams Center pool.
