Former UW-Whitewater associate professor, Kim Hixson, resigned from his position representing District 4 on the Whitewater Common Council to spend more time focusing on his Wisconsin State Legislature duties and family.

"My duties with state government are very satisfying, and I also immensely enjoy being a dad and a husband," Hixson said in his resignation letter. "Resigning from the council now will provide more time to dedicate to my job on the Assembly and more time with my family."

Hixson, D-Whitewater, represents the 43rd district as a state assemblyman. He began his post in January 2007.

The Common Council will appoint someone to temporarily fill the vacant seat until April's election.
