Ugg boots are short for 'Ugly'

I feel I have to nip what I see as an inevitable trend in the bud: Inform the female public of the consequences before the Ugg boots reclaim their foreseeable comeback in the winter. This fad has thrived for a good two years already and it sickens me. Much like an unanticipated horrible sequel to a B film, the majority of the public doesn't want to see it. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of trendy women out there who embrace and enable Uggs.
These hip ladies feel the need to cram tight pants into sheepskin boots as if they need to cross Alaskan tundra on their way to class. It takes 10 minutes to get to class, people. And it is not like it's the Oregon Trail out there, where you have to protect yourself from rattlesnake bites, starvation or broken legs.
My question is, will global warming be the only salvation to see an end to the annoying winter trend? Or will it die away on its own like neon fanny packs from the '90s? We can only hope. If my message reaches at least one woman and it convinces her to keep her Uggs stored permanently in her closet, then my job here will be done.
Perhaps you could trash a pair of Uggs if only for the health benefits, such as freeing them from the constrictively tight looking fad and bring back refreshing circulation to your ankles. Either way, Ugg is short for "ugly." That's not a coincidence.
I am willing to open up a support group to help wean women off of their unhealthy urge to wear Uggs. The rehabilitated women could then be circulated back into society with a new outlook on footwear, and a coupon for an area shoe vender. I am not here to criticize, I am here to help.

Unbknownst to Erin, my daughter, her shoe fashion expertice comes genetically. I remember seeing a 1964 article where Brockton Heel Co. of Pontiac, IL won a major contract to manufature "Beatle Boots" - a narrow toed ankle boot popularized by the Beatles. (Continued…)
