The streak lives on. With its 40-7 win over the UW-Oshkosh Titans (4-5, 2-4, WIAC) on Senior Day at Perkins Stadium, the Warhawks (9-0, 6-0) clinched their fifth straight WIAC championship. The victory also guaranteed them their fifth consecutive berth into the NCAA tournament, which begins in two weeks.
Nov. 7, 2009 will go down in UW-Whitewater history as championship Saturday. That's because three programs won WIAC titles on this date. In a day where the football team clinched their fifth straight conference title, the men's soccer team and the volleyball team clinched WIAC championships as well.

Coming off a strong third place finish last year in the conference tournament, expectations for the Warhawks women's soccer team this year were high for this season. During the regular season this year, they did not finish as hoped but can salvage the season in the conference tournament.
The men's rugby club advanced to the Midwest Final Four with its two victories last weekend in Platteville and seeks a national championship tournament bid. The Final Four will be held at Indiana University in Elkhart, Ind. Nov. 14 where UW-Whitewater will face St.
The soccer team will travel to UW-Oshkosh Saturday at 7 p.m. with hopes of capturing the inaugural WIAC championship and a potential NCAA tournament birth. And if their recent play is any indication of what will happen this weekend, the Warhawks could walk away with a share of the title.
If the Warhawks are going to win the WIAC tournament this weekend, head coach Stacy Boudreau knows what the formula has to be. "We've got to be consistent," Boudreau said. "We've got a lot of firepower. We have a very good team, so it's just a matter of us going out and executing.
More than likely the football team will have home field advantage throughout the postseason. The Warhawks have not clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament yet, but there is little doubt they will roll to the national championship game - especially after the drubbing the 'Hawks put on UW-Stevens Point last Saturday.
After traveling to Illinois and New Jersey in the past few weeks, the women's bowling team looks to stay close to home this weekend, and will host the Warhawk Open Saturday and Sunday. Even though it's a home meet, it will be held in Madison this Saturday with times to be announced.
Junior Dan Machmueller finished sixth to lead the men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the WIAC Championships in Whitewater last Saturday. Machmueller finished with a time of 25:56 for the eight kilometer course, 27 seconds behind race winner Zach Wilhelmy of UW-La Crosse.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams have had a two-week break since its last competition against Carroll University. But both UW-Whitewater teams are back at home Saturday at 1 p.m. against Lawrence University. Each team defeated the Vikings last year by large margins.
